Back in the era of Prohibition, our Great Grandfather, John T Kegel, boldly opened up a “Soft Drink Parlor” at 59th and National Ave. In the midst of those challenging times, the Kegel family secretly brewed beer in he basement, while Anna, John’s wife, skillfully served smuggled liquor from concealed flasks to patrons at the bar.
